Praying the Better Days are Plentiful
Today, we sat in on the DR's bedside rounds around 10am. I had to play shuffle the car and was downstairs when they came to the bedside. Liz asked them to wait and as always, they accomodated us. Great staff here!
The best news is the DR's plan to remove Nayeli's PIK line today. With this, they will up our daughter's milk intake to 60 cc's a day. This is a well baby intake amount and great news because she is eating, peeing, and pooping like daddy.
They are still giving her Raglan (for acid reflux) and Lasics (to get rid of her over abundance of fluid) on a daily basis. She gets Adavan for pain as needed and needed some last night and she went on another crying spree. She is also still using the C-pap and they alternate between the nose piece and nose mask. Nayeli hates the nose piece! Last night when she was screaming at the top of her precious lungs, the nurse removed her nose piece. Nayeli instantly stopped crying and got totally cute and peaceful as our baby girl is so good at doing! Pretty funny.
So, Nayeli is currently on 21% oxygen (like you and I) with the C-pap. They plan to give it another day and try the high flow nose cannula again. Nayeli's respiration per minute rate is still pretty high, but has definitely lowered a bit. We are praying this trend continues. The next step will be to try and get her to Liz's breast in the next week or so. Nayeli is doing well with weight. She is not losing much, but is also not gaining too much either. So, I guess stable is good for now as she currently weighs 7 pounds and 4 ounces.
Yesterday, when Nayeli was laying on her belly. Liz saw Nayeli pick her head up from the right side and flipped her head to the left. Our little girl is so strong to do that at 12 days! We also held Nayeli for most of the day and she was so happy being held and kept staring at us as we did the same. We thank God everyday for this moment.
We hope and pray our baby girl's breathing continues to improve and she gets closer each day to breast feeding.

Beautiful, just beautiful.
God Bless all the CDH babies.
Great news guys..and I am so happy that you can bond with her, I wasn't that lucky for 3 weeks, I couldn't hold Michael. It sounds like she is getting stronger each day..and remember too, she could be having gas pain..you know when you have any surgery, where there is anesthesia, there is gas pain!! And it hurts, so that could be a source of her crying too. You guys are all doing great and the prayers are working. Love to all, Gail
She is so beautiful. I can't wait to actually see you guys so I can give you a huge hug. Keep being strong, it is totally working. We love you.
