Nayeli's Car Ride

Nayeli had her 3rd RSV shot on January 12th she has 3 more to go. She weighs 11 lbs. 2oz.

On Friday the 15th, we took Nayeli on her first car ride that didn't include a stop to the Dr's office. Twinkie and Molly were her support team and came along. We only took Nayeli out of her carseat to change her and feed her. She enjoyed the car ride and slept on the way home. We would love to take her on a stroller ride but will have to wait a little longer. We also would love to show her off to our friends and take her places with us. We are hoping we will be able to take her out by May. Which is the end of cold and flu season. We can't wait!

Shane went back to work four weeks ago. Nayeli and I miss him so much. Shane has been doing most of the cooking during the week. He is a great cook! I am so lucky to have such a loving husband. Shane and I have been taking turns getting out of the house. I went for a walk with my doxie meetup group last weekend for the first time since September. Molly, Twinkie and I were happy to see everyone. Shane has been playing ice hockey. He is getting ready for a hockey tournament coming up in one week. I also went to church today for the first time since October. It felt great going. Shane's turn is next week and he is looking forward to it.

Shane and I ask you to pray for the following CDH families:

Precious Alina is no longer on the CPAP and has been breathing on her own for a couple of days. We are praying she gets stronger and is able to oral feed well. She will be starting her oral feeds this week.

Princess Ava, we are praying that her stomach settles and she stops throwing up. She has been through so much. Ava is due to have surgery on the 27th. We are praying her surgery goes well and is not in the hospital for very long.

Rockstar Carter has been in the hospital for over 103 days and got moved out of the intensive care unit into the transitional care unit which is a step closer to being discharged. He is having issues with his oral feeds but overall is doing great. We are praying he gets to go home soon with his mommy, daddy and Lucy (boxer dog).

Sweet Olivia took her first bottle feed yesterday and did great! We are praying she continues to do well and she can go home soon.

Beautiful Sydney has been put on the ventilator for a few days due to her pulmanary hyptertension. The Doctors have said it will go away with treatment. We are praying she overcomes this hurdle and continues to do well so she can go home.

She is getting so big!!! I know it is hard not to take your baby out and do "normal" things with them, but hang it there the time will come soon and you all will have a blast!!!

So glad you got yo take her out. I'll bet she LOVED it! Do I see a dog in that stroller? Way too cute. Give that sweety Nayeli a big kiss and hug from Ava and I! Oh and thanks for the prayers. Her appoinment to discuss surgery is the 27th. We are not sure when her surgery will be but know it will be hopefull first part of February.

Nayeli is so beautiful and I love looking at her updated pictures!! Liz and Shane, you both look so happy and proud to be Nayeli's parents. I know how you feel with isolation with your little one. But, as time goes by it will get easier to take Nayeli places. I think taking her for car rides and stroller rides are a great idea, for you have to get her used to them early or she may hate them later on and get fussy everytime you have to get in a car or stroller. Now that Ian is in preschool, I can't control the germs he comes in contact with, but you are doing a great job, giving Nayeli time for her lungs to continue to get stronger!! You both are doing great!!

Hugs, Tracy Meats - mom to Ian, born with a LCDH on 4/3/04 and WY and CO State Rep. for CHERUBS

She's precious! :) She looks like she's absolutely thriving at home!!

I was going to mention after reading a few entries down about her spitting up and your concerns about reherniation... The other thing besides rehearniation that is common is bowel obstruction caused by a malrotation. I don't know if you remember Cadenne going through this or not... but it is very common for repaired CDH babies. You can look back on my blog from April 21st and the ones preceding it to see if any of this sounds familiar!

Good to see Nayeli doing so well! :)
