My Parents Visit

My parents told me they were coming to visit us. They live in So. Cal and took a drive to the Bay to see us. They arrived on the 20th. I was looking forward them visiting. I needed them for support and they were there to do that. On June 21st, It was a very hot day and we decided to take a drive to Half Moon Bay. I drank so much water before we left I knew I would have to use the restroom during our drive. I made the mistake in not telling Shane I had to go soon enough. I held it for a while and I was going to burst. I almost had Shane pull over and I was going to go on the side of the road. A porta potty never looked so good.

We arrived at this great place for Clam Chowder. We sat out in the patio of the restauarant and loooked at the beautiful beach. We saw whales and enjoyed the time.

We enjoyed the day by driving and sight seeing. We had dinner and then drove home. My parents told us to keep being positive and don't give up faith in God. Miracles happen and we should keep believing in God.

Liz and Shane,

I found your blog through the BoH message boards. I'm a CDH mom in Kansas City. My miracle baby, Sofia, was born March 10th with LCDH and is now home and doing very well. I wish all the best to your family and little Nayeli (LOVE the name!) If you would like to read our story, our blog is www.babymiller08.blogspot.com and has some good information and links for CDH. I'm glad you found Breath of Hope, it's a fabulous support group! If you have questions or just need someone to listen, I'm more than happy to offer my support and experience.

Lots of prayers from our family to yours,
The Millers

Liz and Shane-
I also found your blog through BoH.
What a beautiful name you've chosen for your little princess!

My daughter, Makena, was born 9/30/06 with a left-sided CDH. She is 21 months old today and thriving! I wanted to stop by to offer you support and hope during the rest of your pregnancy. I will be following Nayeli's story as I've followed so many others and so many others followed ours.

Please visit Makena's Caring Bridge site if you'd like to read about her journey with CDH.

With lots of love and peaceful thoughts,

Liz,

Beautiful blog and beautiful name! I like the unusual names or perhaps old names that are not commonly used!

Keeping you all in my thoughts, prayers and LUNG FUNCTION chants,
Elizabeth

Liz and Shane, not sure if Amy has shown you (she probably has, she's an amazing source of support to so many!) but there are many items to download on our site; our Parent Reference Guide with medical terms, advice from other parents, info about CDH and much more. Plus past newsletters and other items that might help you with your appt and what questions to ask, etc. We've been using those for about 10 years now and they have helped a lot of expectant parents figure out this whole CDH world. We just updated them not long also so there is lots of great new advice as well. There are more than 400 stories of CDH babies on our site - that might help prepare you a bit for the NICU visit.

You really are in great hands. Everyone at UCSF is so pro-family and support when it comes to CDH. Dr. Harrison has been amazing to CHERUBS and our members over the years and is on our Board. It says volumes that he cares about these kids more than just the surgical aspect when he's so involved in support as well. Everyone at UCSF has been the same way. :)

If there is anything else we can do, please let me know!

Dawn

Liz,

Just checking in you you and sweet Nayeli....no updates? I haven't heard anything from you since you were feeling pretty sure that you were going to delivery at UCSF. I hope that means things are going relatively well and you are starting to relax and enjoy your pregnancy. I did want to let you know that I still think of you often and pray for Nayeli daily...at least. Love to you all.

Betsy
